Felt care instructions
To keep your blanket in good condition brush off any loose dirt, hair and salt from the sweat after the blanket has dried.
A good hose down now and then will take out most of the dirt.
A soak in HOT soapy water will take out the grease build-up that can accumulate after a while.
You will need to do this only a few times a year (depending on how much riding you do)

Fill a tub with VERY HOT water and liquid laundry detergent.Adding some washing soda will help to dissolve grease and dirt.

GENTLY lower the blanket down into the water, do not move the blanket around as this will cause the blanket to shrink.

Allow the blanket to soak for 15 - 20 minutes or so (if left to get cold the grease will settle back into the blanket and solidify, (making it hard again).

GENTLY move the blanket around a bit at the end of the soak to push the grease out of the blanket but avoid any vigorous action, which will cause shrinking.
You may use the spin cycle of your washing machine. Spinning will not cause felting ----agitation will.
Rinse the blanket by repeating steps 1 to 5 without the soap.
Adding a little vinegar to the rinse water helps to restore the natural PH of the fibre and release all the detergent.
